With an educational mission behind it, our posts will try to educate our readers about the right way to holiday in Bali, what to visit, where to party, and pretty much how to live like a local on this island we call home.

Our very first blog post comes signed by our Director Nathan A. Flax, who will nostalgically talk you through how growing up in Bali was like and why Total Bali came to life.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Hi Travellers and Friends,

I’m excited to be writing Total Bali’s first article for our blog page as part of our push to give our guests more of an understanding of who we are and where we came from.

I guess the best place to start is by introducing myself and letting you know a little bit about how Total Bali has come to be.

I was born in Perth, Western Australia, but made in Bali. My parents have been living in Bali since the 60’s, they met here and I am one of the fortunate people to call this place my home. From a grommet, I was exposed to hotel living, as my dad was a founding partner in what is now voted ‘The No.1 Hotel in The World’, located in the most magical place on Earth – Sumba. ‘Sumba Reef Lodge’ as it was formally named, gave me an understanding of how to holiday in style, whilst keeping busy with the many activities. From fishing, surfing and horse riding, to beach golf, waterfall treks, learning about the rich megalithic culture, you get the point. I was exposed to holiday travel with guests that had never been to Indonesia, let alone them being placed into one of the most remote places on the planet.

Fast-forwarding a bit and we go through Bali International School days, and graduating Scotch College in Perth, an International Business diploma in Sydney, and then graduating from UWA with an Asian Studies degree, which officially makes me a Caucasian Asian. After a few years of working for dad within his health facilitation company, it became apparent there was an ever-growing need for organising tailor-made holidays. The constant calls for helping my mates and their mates and their mate’s mates with their holiday plans, the idea of formalising all this information into a business had never been easier. We have always ran our business with this word of mouth philosophy, and until now we still haven’t spent any money on marketing. However, we’re planning to change that. Bali has too many choices, too many imitations, too much confusion and we want our guests to cut out the crap, and go straight for the best prices they are looking to spend. Why settle for mediocre? So this blog was created to help you with the right information, and point you in the right direction.

Total Bali was founded as a way of helping friends on a personal level, we have now grown to helping friends with managing their properties, we are developing eco conscious projects, and continuing to find ways to keep our guests as happy and busy as possible whilst on holiday.

Our team has now grown to 6 reservation staff, that assist you in your booking needs, we have an in house IT department trying to convey what we do online, architects, drivers, villa staff, and more recently a marketing department, we really do our best to make sure we meet all of your needs when it comes to holidaying the right way in Bali.

We have a lot of new ventures on our way too, not to give away too much, but we’re developing international sub-agencies, expanding into other areas of Asia, exploring new ways for our guests to better plan their holidays.
